More than a School, It's an Experience!

It is easy to see why the Redeemer students develop confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of self at such an early age!

Our Mission In Action

Developing Young Leaders

As the oldest students in the school, our first, second, and third graders have the opportunity to develop skills of leadership, responsibility, independence, and teamwork at an early age. Our environment fosters risk taking and embraces mistakes as opportunities. With an emphasis on developing students’ unique abilities and talents, the foundation is built for their capacity to learn and succeed while providing a sense of belonging and importance. This impacts our students’ sense of self and confidence, essential for building social relationships and contributing positively to society.

We are proud of all we have to offer! Redeemer is not just a school, it’s an experience!

Creating dreamers and doers starts at a young age.

Responsibility

Our first, second, and third grade students are learning responsibility, independence, and teamwork at an early age. Both classes assist with carline duties, scanning attendance, assisting the younger students, and helping the teachers with duties. We are also excited about our Big Buddies Program, where the older students are paired with younger students for story time and game playing. Additionally, our second graders are responsible for creating and announcing, “Wednesday Reports” on the intercom. Click the link below to watch Nate and Sam in action.

Community Engagement

In the elementary division, community engagement continues to be central to our mission. With our 1st through 3rd graders, we are especially excited for our students to engage with the Baltimore community beyond our school campus. In the fall our elementary division visits First Fruits Farm, a non-profit, Christian ministry dedicated to providing fresh, nutritious food for the hungry. Our students, teachers, and parent volunteers bag over 18,000 pounds of potatoes to benefit our community. That’s a lot of potatoes! The elementary division also visits CARES/GEDCO Food Pantry to bag groceries for members of our community who are working towards self-sufficiency. Beginning in the 2s, our students bring canned goods to stock the pantry so it is especially meaningful for our oldest students to see in person the value of their efforts. We are also excited about our growing partnership with Govans Elementary, which is a little over a mile from Redeemer. Our first-grade students collaborate together in the “Hi Neighbor!” initiative, whose goal is to build community. Students from both schools connect in a variety of ways throughout the year. The “Hi Neighbor!” initiative culminates in a big playdate, scavenger hunt, and a lot of smiles! It is a joy to watch the students and their Govans’ buddies. Together our children are making our neighborhood, community, and city a better place!

Independence & Risk Taking

Our program is filled with opportunities to support our students’ growing independence and comfort in taking risks. From harvesting in the garden to preparing salads to share with parents during Feast with First! to cooking and serving family style meals in second grade to interviews and public speaking in third grade, our students are learning life skills and developing self-sufficiency. The Redeemer students are given opportunities usually not offered at such a young age. We consider this to be a hidden gem of our early childhood model!

Teamwork & Collaboration

Working together and recognizing how our students’ talents and skills can collectively impact our community in such a positive way is central to our work at Redeemer. We are proud to share that every student in the elementary division participates in the Redeemer Racers Soccer Program and Spring School Musical.

Racers Soccer Program

When our first class of second graders approached administration with a proposal and field drawing for a soccer team, we knew we wanted to honor their request and the Redeemer Racers were born! Coached by parent volunteers, with afternoon practices and games, the students exhibited incredible camaraderie and school spirit. The season culminates with a spirited faculty versus third grade game.

Spring Musical

Each year our entire elementary division works together to produce our spring musical, complete with costumes, lights, and sets that bring our children’s energy alive. Memorizing lines and solos, collaborating as a team, and performing in front of an audience helps develop resilience and confidence. Our productions have included Disney’s Lion King, Kids; Frozen, Kids; and The Little Mermaid, Jr. If given the chance, it is amazing to see what children this young can do!

Time Outdoors is a Priority

Henry, 2nd Grade

“I love the outdoor spaces at Redeemer the most! There’s enough room to play soccer, wall ball and basketball. We also play lots of other games on the playground and get lots of recess.”
